Cycling in Minnesota creates thousands of jobs and cuts health-care spending

Despite its cold winters, Minnesota — and the Twin Cities in particular — has long been recognized as one of the country’s biking-est places. Minneapolis leads the nation in the concentration of bike lanes and paths (5.8 per square mile), the number of regular commuters (4 percent, according to the U.S. census), and has the second-lowest biking fatality rate among the top 50 largest cities.


Additionally, a new report released that the state’s bike industry also produces $780 million in annual economic activity, 5,519 jobs and millions of dollars in health care savings because of reduced obesity, diabetes and heart disease. And 13.6 percent of Twin Cities residents commute by bike.


Biking to work three times a week was associated with a 32 percent lower likelihood of obesity and 28 percent lower risk of high blood pressure — which produce substantial health savings and result in fewer premature deaths. READ complete article here >>

What disease affects EVERY other American and one in four kids?

Type 2 diabetes in America has tripled since the 1980s, and  researchers estimate one in three Americans will have diabetes by mid-century. More than one-third of American adults are obese1.

And one in three Medicare dollars is spent on diabetes making it the biggest driver of our federal debt. Sadly, these numbers continue to increase. Overall, it’s not a pretty picture, and experts predict things will only become worse.

I use the term “diabesity” to describe the continuum of health problems ranging from mild insulin resistance and overweight to obesity and diabetes. Diabesity is the underlying cause of most heart disease, cancer, and premature death in the world.

Tragically, these conditions are also 100% preventable and reversible.

Most people believe diabetes is not reversible. That’s unfortunate,considering its numerous complications including kidney failure, amputation, stroke, and dementia. I’ve also heard experts claim obesity is difficult to treat and maintaining long-term weight loss is almost impossible.

I wholeheartedly disagree. Science shows diabetes and obesity are preventable and reversible with aggressive utilize nutrition and lifestyle modifications.


It is caused by the 152 pounds of sugar and 146 pounds of flour a year eaten on average by every American – that is a toxic drug dose of diabetes causing food.

It is well known that massively obese patients can reverse their diabetes within a few weeks of getting a gastric bypass, even if they haven’t lost that much weight.

Why? Because food is medicine and when you take disease-producing food out and put the right food in the healing happens quickly. I recently had a patient lose 45 pounds and get off 54 units of insulin and all his diabetes medication.
7 Strategies To Help Prevent, Treat, and Reverse Diabesity

I implement these seven strategies every day with patients to prevent, treat, and reverse diabesity without drugs and surgery. 

1. Pull the Sugar

A diet full of empty calories and quickly absorbed sugar, liquid sugar calories, and refined carbohydrates – all of which convert to sugar – creates high insulin levels, eventually leading to insulin resistance and Type 2 diabetes.

Among the many problems of chronically high insulin levels include inflammation, high blood pressure, poor sex drive, increased risk for cancer, and depression.

The most important thing you can do to reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes and obesity or reversing its impact is to eliminate or dramatically reduce sugar in all its many disguises. 

2. Stock Up On Whole, Unprocessed Foods


Whole, unprocessed real foods balance your blood sugar, reduce inflammation and oxidative stress, and improve your liver detoxification to prevent or reverse insulin resistance and diabetes.

Choose a rich variety of colorful fruits and vegetables, plenty of omega-3 fats, coconut butter and olive oil, legumes, nuts, and seeds. Whole, real foods turn on all the right gene messages, promote a healthy metabolism, reverse insulin resistance and diabetes, and prevent aging and age-related diseases like diabetes and heart disease.
3. Get The Right Nutrients

Supplements make your cells more sensitive to insulin and more effective at metabolizing sugar and fat. Combined with the right diet and lifestyle modifications, they can help you balance blood sugar and reverse or prevent diabetes. At the very minimum, I recommend:

A high-quality multivitamin and mineral
One to two grams of omega 3 fatty acids


1,000 – 2,000 IUs of vitamin D3
300 – 600 mg of alpha lipoic acid twice daily
200 – 600 mcg of chromium polynicotinate
5 to 5 grams of PGX, a unique type of fiber that controls appetite and blood sugar, before each meal with eight ounces of water

4. Get The Right Exercise

You needn’t spend hours at a gym to get exercise’s benefits. Even a 30-minute walk can help.Vigorous is the key for effective exercise that helps balance blood sugar and lower insulin levels.

Get your heart rate up to 70 – 80% of its maximum capacity for 60 minutes, up to six times a week. Step it up a few notches with high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and strength training.Studies show HIIT can benefit Type 2 diabetes2 and obesity3. Best of all, you can do it in just minutes a day.


5. Get Sufficient Sleep

Lack of sleep or poor sleep damages your metabolism, spikes sugar and carb cravings, makes you eat more, and increases your risk for numerous diseases including Type 2 diabetes. One study among healthy subjects found even a partial night’s poor sleep4 could induce insulin resistance.

That’s why you must prioritize sleep so you get eight hours of solid, uninterrupted shuteye every night. Create a sleep ritual that includes herbal therapies, creating total darkness and quiet, and relaxing with my UltraBath.

6. Control Stress Levels

In the face of chronic stress, our levels of insulin, cortisol, and inflammatory compounds called cytokines all increase. This drives the relentless metabolic dysfunction that leads to weight gain, insulin resistance, and eventually Type 2 diabetes.

The links between stress, weight gain, mental disorders, and blood sugar imbalances show that managing stress becomes a critical component of obesity and diabetes management. You can’t eliminate stress, but you can learn to control it.

Meditation, deep breathing exercises, yoga, massage, laughing, and dancing is among the best ways to manage stress and reverse Type 2 diabetes. Check out my blog to learn five ways to never be stressed again.

7. Measure To Improve

Research shows that people who track their results lose twice as much weight and do twice as well. Begin by getting a journal to track your progress in. That could be as simple as a pad of paper, a notebook, a spreadsheet in your computer, or whatever is convenient and works for you.

Now, what should you track? In addition to what you eat, you’ll want to get a baseline of all measurements: your weight, weight, waist size, body mass index (BMI), and blood pressure(optional). Many patients become inspired when they see their results on paper.

The Best Alternatives to Plastic Water Bottles

The Problem of Plastic Water Bottles…

What seems like a harmless plastic water bottle contains hormone disrupting chemicals like BPA and Phthalates. BPA has been shown to cause hormone imbalance in the body and has even been linked to various types of cancers, obesity, miscarriage, infertility and neurological disorders. 
Phthalates have been banned in many parts of the world and are especially concerning for men and boys as they have been linked to lower testosterone and male infertility.

The Price of Convenience

As harmful as plastics are to us individually, we are all facing unwanted exposure from worldwide plastic pollution.
Sure, plastic water bottles are inexpensive, disposable and convenient, but they are also terrible for our ecosystem. In fact, many of the negative health effects attributed to the harmful components in plastic may come from our planet’s growing plastic burden.
Many tons of plastic waste are dumped into the ocean each year. The combination of UV light and the salt of the ocean cause these plastics to break down and release BPA, Phthalates, PCBs and DDT into the ocean water. These chemicals are absorbed by small marine life and eventually work their way up the food supply.
In fact, experts now claim that no ocean in the world is free from this plastic pollution and several have said that this is the most dire issue facing our ocean and our planet today. Plastic chemicals were even found under 30 feet of ice in the Antarctic, a place not even inhabited by humans and previously not thought to be contaminated by plastic waste.
Why is this such a problem?
Plastic consumption is still rising at a drastic rate…
Trillions of plastic bags are discarded each year and these bags can take up to a thousand years to degrade. During this time, they are releasing these hormone disrupting chemicals into the ocean, groundwater and soil.
Even now, there is an estimated 46,000 pieces of plastic floating in every square mile of the ocean.
At the rate that plastic is being used and discarded and the length of time that plastic takes to degrade, it seems logical that plastic overuse could become the biggest health and ecological problem of our time.

Alternatives to Plastic Water Bottles

Water bottles are not the only source of plastic waste, but they are a major source of plastic exposure. Disposable water bottles can leach their hormone disrupting chemicals right into the water you drink from them. Heat or light exposure can speed up this process, as can the amount of time the water spends in the bottle.
We can all do a lot for our health and the environment by making two simple switches:
  1. Switching to reusable grocery bags, produce bags, and plastic bags
  2. Using a reusable, non-plastic water bottle
There are so many great options for reusable water bottles now. I use mine daily for lemon water in the morning, smoothies and herbal tea throughout the day, and water.
Over the last several years, I’ve tried quite a few different plastic-free reusable water bottles and these are my favorites (in order of how much I love them):

1. Hydro Flask

Hydro flask is my favorite reusable water bottle by far. It is not only stainless steel and BPA free, but it is also vacuum sealed and insulated so it is incredible at regulating temperature. I was shocked that it could keep my ice water cold for 24 hours (with ice still floating in it!) and coffee or tea hot for 12 hours.
I have both a wide mouth water bottle and a smaller bottle for hot drinks and I use them both all the time. The only downside? Due to the vacuum sealed insulated layer, these can’t be put in the dishwasher.

2. Lifefactory Glass Bottle

This lifefactory glass bottle is another favorite, but it doesn’t insulate as well as the Hydro Flask and some others. It is dishwasher safe, which is a big plus. I don’t trust the glass as much when I’m with my children, but if I’m on my own, I love this bottle and it doesn’t leak.

3. Klean Kanteen

The original reusable water bottle that I tried and liked enough to get one for everyone on my Christmas list that year. I still love my basic steel Klean Kanteen, though it is not insulated and does not keep drinks hot or cold. Also, if you pour really hot drinks in it, prepare to burn your hand. The upside? You can boil water in it while camping and it can turn iced tea into hot tea if left in the car on a warm day (experience talking).
I still love my Klean, and they are a budget friendly reusable option.

4. Cayman Insulated Water Bottle

The Cayman only comes in one size that I’ve found (about 17 ounces) which makes it a little small for what I prefer in a water bottle. Like the Hydro Flask, it keeps liquids hot or cold for at least 12 hours. It does fit in regular cup holders, which makes it great for taking in the car or on the side of my backpack while traveling and I often prefer this one if I’m on the road.
If you haven’t already, please consider making the switch to one of these alternatives to plastic water bottles (and replace your plastic bags while you are at it!). The convenience of plastic isn’t worth the consequences for our health or the environment.

The U.S. Government Is Making It Legal To Shoot Hibernating Bear Families In Their Dens

The U.S. Senate just voted 52-47 to allow barbaric hunting tactics such as killing hibernating bear families in their dens — and now the lives of countless animals on 76 million acres of federal wildlife refuges in Alaska are in President Donald Trump's hands.

Now the government is set to overturn previous U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) regulations that were put in place to protect our wildlife, allowing hunters to lure grizzly bears with food to shoot them at point-blank range. They will be able to legally enter bear and wolf dens to kill mothers and their young cubs and pups. Hunters will also be allowed to shoot bears from airplanes. Cycling Was the Force that Kept Me Alive

I had never been so fit. Never smoked. Drank socially. Cycled a lot for the past 13 years. And the lump I had found in my left breast while taking shower didn’t even look like a tumor, according to my doctor. Plus, I was young, just 39 years old. But it was cancer.

Do you know anyone who takes the common advice of “live each day like it’s your last” seriously? If you do, you’ve probably been inspired by the many ways that they live life to the fullest.

Because cycling is a big part of our format, we hear stories and receive articles about how cycling changed their life, or saved it. "Cycling was the Force that Kept Me Alive" is one of those articles. It's about Erika Sallum a São Paulo, Brazil based journalist, who was given the news, "yes, it's cancer."

Cycling didn't prevent her from getting cancer, but, as she said, it was what kept her alive. It's a great inspirational article, especially if your battling cancer, or someone you know.

What Will It Take To Keep Plastic Out Of The Oceans?
A three-pronged overhaul of our global packaging and recycling systems could potentially raise our plastic recycling rate from 14% to 70%.

Something like 9 million tons of plastic enter the world's oceans every year, and, at current rates, the problem is likely to get worse before it gets better. As developing countries expand, they tend to consume more packaged goods while failing to implement adequate collection systems. By 2050, there could be more plastic in the water than fish, according to one estimate.

Forty years after the first recycling symbol appeared, only about 14% of plastic is currently recycled. But by redesigning packaging along circular economy principles, reusing more plastic bags, and by investing in recycling infrastructure, it should be possible to get that number nearer 70%, a new report estimates.

"Businesses and governments are now, for the first time, recognising the need to fundamentally rethink the global plastics system," says the report from the World Economic Forum and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, a U.K. nonprofit focused on circular economy issues. Forty groups, including consumer goods giants like Unilever and Danone, have signed onto the foundation's $10 million New Plastics Economy initiative, which looks to identify ways to reduce plastic pollution and place more material into closed loops.

The report divides packaging into three categories. The first, representing about 30% of the total packaging by weight, includes pesky items like sachets, tear-offs, lids, and candy wrappers, that we often discard without thinking. Packaging made from several materials stuck together (and therefore more difficult to recycle) also falls into this category, as does "uncommon" packaging like Styrofoam, which people are often at a loss for how to deal with. To become more sustainable, the report suggests that packaging in this category will need to be fundamentally redesigned, and eventually remade with compostable materials, when possible.

A second category, representing 20% of all packaging, can be reused rather than recycled. For example, brands can promote bottle reuse and save money by only shipping active ingredients. Unilever does this in Vietnam, where it launched a Sunlight dishwasher liquid vending machine. In other places, legislation and ballot measures have proven effective at driving change. Several cities and states, including California and Michigan, now ban single-use plastic bags, requiring retailers to offer reusable alternatives. The report estimates that reusing plastics is a $9 billion economic opportunity.

Meanwhile, a third category—50% of plastic packaging—could be attacked through more standardized design and materials standards, and by leveraging economic incentives. The first step, the report says, is creating a "Global Plastics Protocol" to help to harmonize recycling standards across countries. "The entire system of collection and sorting is highly fragmented, which prevents economies of scale and the delivery of consistent, high-quality material streams to recyclers," the report says. Once standards are unified, they could be reinforced through policies and voluntary commitments, and by developing more robust collection and sorting infrastructure in developing parts of the world.

Given the global scope of the problem, and the complexity of dealing with multiple material types, reducing plastic pollution is not going to be easy. But at least we're getting to a point where companies and nonprofits are addressing the issue head-on and really getting into the weeds. Perhaps fish will remain the most weighty ocean creatures after all.

Cancer Is Not A Disease But a Business!


We are constantly afraid of the word cancer, as we are surrounded by people who suffer from it, and it seems that no one can defeat this deadly disease.

However, what we have to say about it is that it is not a real disease. Cancer is a business, and we are paying its toll.

Millions of people suffer from cancer, regardless of their age and sex. However, most of them are still unaware of the fact that they are being manipulated.

There is a book titled “World Without Cancer” which has been prevented to be translated into numerous languages.

However, our aim today is to persuade you that there is no such a disease as cancer, as it is only a vitamin B17 deficiency (Amygdalin). Therefore, stay away from surgeries, radiation, chemotherapy, and other conventional treatments.

In the past, while numerous people and seamen were dying of scurvy, and as many people profited from it, it was later discovered that it is not a real disease, but only a deficiency of vitamin C.

We believe this is the same! The cancer industry is a huge business, and billions of dollars are being earned annually. It flourished after the World War II.

However, when we consider the fact that the cure has been found long ago, the conclusion is more than clear: cancer fills the pockets of colonizers.

Yet, cancer can be prevented by following these simple tips:

  • Do not panic, but investigate the condition, and try to find out the cancer type.
  • Since cancer is only a lack of vitamin B17 in the body, you should consume 15 to 20 pieces of apricot stone/nucleus (fruit stone) daily to prevent it.
  • Wheat bud is a potent anti-cancer medicine, rich in liquid oxygen and the most powerful anti-cancer compound- laetrile, an extracted form of this vitamin, found in the fruit stone of apples.
Laetrile is being manufactured in Mexico, and then smuggles into the USA, as the medicinal industry implements the law forbidding laetrile production.

Dr. Harold W. Manner, the author of the book “Death of Cancer”, maintains that laetrile treats cancer in over 90% of the cases.

Amygdalin (Vitamin B17)is found in:

  • The fruit stone or grain (seed) of fruits in highest concentration. These fruits include pears, apples, apricots, prunes, and peaches.
  • Seeds (Grains): sesame and linseed (seed of linen/flax seed).
  • Grouts of oats, grouts of block wheat, barley, brown rice, rye, linseed, millet. 
  • Common beans, such as bean, lentil sprout (lentil bud), corns (grains), Lima (Lima beans) and pea.
  • Mulberry– Kernels: Bitter Almond (which is the richest source of vitamin B-17 in nature) and Indian almond.
  • Mulberries: blueberries, black mulberry, raspberry, and strawberry.
  • Sweetmeat pumpkin, brewer’s yeast, and rough rice (paddy).
These are the richest sources of absorbable B17:
  • Apricots (kernels/seeds)
  • Blueberries
  • Elderberries 
  • Seeds from fruits like cherries, apples, pears, peaches, prunes, plums
  • Fava beans
  • Almonds
  • Raspberries
  • Sorghum
  • Macadamia nuts
  • Strawberries
  • Blackberries
  • Wheatgrass
  • Buckwheat
  • Lima beans
  • Barley
  • Cashews
  • Bean sprouts
  • Millet
Moreover, when washing the hands and plates with hand- washing, and dish- washing liquids or soaps, that cannot be fully rinsed.

Then, they attach to the food and enter our body. Yet, you can solve this issue by pouring half of the dish-washing liquid and hand washing liquid, and add vinegar.

You should never wash the vegetables with dish-washing liquid as it enters their tissues and cannot be washed away. Instead, just wash them with water, and add vinegar to keep them fresh.

This will help you avoid the detrimental effects of the severe chemicals added in these products, such as various ailments, allergies, and cancer.

Make sure you lead a healthy lifestyle, exercise regularly, eat organic, healthy foods, manage stress, and you will maintain your optimal health.

Do we go back go to whatever we were doing before the chaos, saying, "oh well, it's somebody else's problem now?" The political forces are counting on that. All bark -- no bite.
